Poppy & Lizard

I'm just using the picture to experiment with the macro function on my new camera, a fairly cheap digital Nikon. I took a number of photos of these postage stamps with mixed results. With more patience, I might have been able to get something better. As it turned out, I was happy with this one, and I think the poppy follows up from the Laos posting of last month.

Here is a story relating to the picture. I like of the painting of Shinsaimdang, but they haven't aged well. Any reproductions, including those shown in the stamps, will be repainted as many of the pigments have faded. I wonder if her Western contemporaries paid any more attention to the longevity of their work. I remember discussing the work of an artist-friend of mine. Asked about the medium he was using, he said it would last at least 500 years. I had never suspected that such considerations went into his work.
